The first stop on this journey to the land of happy, long life is the Ogliastra region of Sardinia. Here, almost one in five inhabitants is over 90 – 20 times more than in France! Yet this is a far cry from the Mediterranean diet recommended by nutritionists: meat and cholesterol galore. Even more astonishing, consanguinity is paradoxically conducive to the extreme longevity of the inhabitants… our wellness food specialist and a general practitioner will investigate these phenomena and meet nonagenarians and centenarians with exceptional stories.

New Year's Eve

Every new year brings with it a blank canvas on which to draw our hopes, aspirations and plans. New Year’s resolutions are more than just a tradition: they represent commitments to our well-being, personal development and sanity. It’s a time when we take the time to reflect on our lives, what we’ve accomplished and what we want to achieve in the months ahead. Here are 6 good resolutions for 2024.

Learn something new

Whether it’s a foreign language, a professional skill, a musical instrument or an artistic activity, lifelong learning broadens our horizons and stimulates our minds. Set yourself the goal of exploring an area that excites you and whets your curiosity.

Prioritize your physical and mental health

By integrating a sporting activity into your daily routine, whether it’s running, yoga or weight training, you set in motion a virtuous circle to boost your energy, strengthen your body and release endorphins, the happy hormones. Make sure you eat a healthier diet and get enough sleep.

Yoga

Take time for yourself

Put aside your obligations and refocus on yourself. Whether through meditation, reading or walks, this personal investment is essential to soothe your soul, reduce stress and strengthen your resilience in the face of challenges.

Cook

Taking the time to explore recipes, learn culinary techniques and experiment with new foods can transform not only the way you eat, but also the way you interact with food. By cooking your own dishes, you gain control over ingredients, expand your palate and create moments of sharing tasty food with loved ones.

Cooking

Travel

Exploring new places, far from home or in your own region, allows you to immerse yourself in new cultures, create priceless memories and broaden your perspective on the world around us. You’ll get out of your comfort zone and learn to adapt to different environments.

Practice gratitude

Being aware of the small positive things in life can have a huge impact on our well-being. Get into the habit of keeping a diary to record what you’re grateful for every day.

Gratitude

New Year’s resolutions aren’t just promises to yourself, they’re a gateway to a better, more fulfilling life. It’s also important to remember that the key to success lies in consistency and perseverance. Don’t be discouraged by any missteps!

MyZen TV helps you achieve your resolutions with programs focusing on well-being, cooking, travel and fitness.

Do not leave the water running when brushing your teeth. Take showers instead of baths. Sort your waste… Most of us already do it naturally! These small everyday ecological gestures are now part of our lifestyle. Due to the alarm bell that has been rung on global warming. But we can go further! MyZen TV invites you to discover 6 eco-friendly actions to make our world more sustainable.

Creating your own compost

compost

If you have a garden, or even a small balcony, you should think about creating your own compost. Fill it with your natural waste, such as peelings, coffee grounds, tea leaves, etc. Collect it every 6 months to a year and you will get a perfect fertilizer for your garden. If you don’t have one, there are many alternatives created by municipalities that invite residents to participate in making their city greener. Ask your local council for more information! So, let’s all get composting!

Use natural cleaning products

natural cleaning products

Simple, harmless and above all ecological, the products that our grandparents used for cleaning should be used more to protect our environment. Black soap or white vinegar for your surfaces, bicarbonate of soda for the bathroom, Marseille soap for laundry: all alternatives to the environmentally polluting products that you can get at the supermarkets. Your wallet and our beautiful planet will be grateful!

Use natural cleaning products

Local fruit and vegetables
eco-friendly actions

It seems obvious, but it is not always easy to know which fruits and vegetables are in season to avoid products full of conservatives, or those that have travelled around the world to end up on your plate. Consuming in a short circuit means supporting local producers and sellers !

Collect one piece of waste per day

waste

This is one of the small eco-friendly actions of daily life that doesn’t require much effort. When you’re out in the streets or in the countryside, it’s hard not to notice the rubbish and other packaging strewn about… What if you challenged yourself to pick up at least one piece of rubbish every day? You can put it in the nearest waste bin, to prevent it from getting stuck in a manhole or in the gullet of an animal. The small gestures of each of us make the planet of tomorrow!

Promote environmentally friendly hygiene products

Bamboo brushes
eco-friendly actions

Bamboo or refillable toothbrushes, solid shampoo, reusable cotton buds, make-up remover flannels… These ecological finds are multiplying on the market.

Go for the bike

It is a standard for all those who want to reduce their impact on the planet. Biking is the best way to get around in your daily life. Whether you’re commuting to work, shopping (it will prevent you from buying water packs!) or just walking, cycling is great for your health and for the planet.

You now know the eco-friendly actions to adopt on a daily basis! The aim of these alternatives is to preserve the environment and make your daily life easier… So, are you ready to take the plunge?

Protecting the environment is more than necessary and each of our daily ecological actions have a more or less negative impact on it. However, it is easy to preserve the planet by changing certain small habits in our daily lives! MyZen TV presents you with 10 easy ecological gestures to apply in your daily life. A small step for you, and a big step for the environment if we all do them.

Sort your waste

The first simple gesture that has a huge impact on the environment is to sort your waste. In fact, all you have to do is look at the labels on the packaging and put what can be recycled in the recyclable bin, glass in the glass bin and non-recyclable waste in the bin provided for that purpose. However, the rules of selective sorting may vary from one country to another, or even be specific to each region or city. Do not hesitate to ask your local council or visit their website for more information.

2. Walk, cycle or use public transport instead of cars

Polluting emissions from road traffic are disastrous for the planet. Try to walk, cycle or public transport as often as possible. You can also carpool if the car is the only way to get around. In addition to saving fuel and pollution, it is also an opportunity to practise a regular sporting activity, especially for cycling. Finally, it is useful to know that the costs of cycling to work are partly reimbursed by some companies.

3. Unplug electrical appliances

Putting appliances on standby and leaving them plugged in does not prevent them from consuming electricity. In fact, they continue to consume 10% of electricity! It is therefore essential to unplug them when you don’t need them. The same applies to telephone chargers, which are too often left on the sockets.

4. Make your own compost

An easy ecological gesture that requires a little more vigour but is still very simple to carry out is to make your own compost. Your plants will thank you! This will reduce your organic waste and save you money. In addition, you will considerably reduce the use of chemicals in your garden.

5. Collect rainwater to water your plants

The 5th simple and ecological gesture that we recommend is to collect rainwater. This will allow you to water your indoor and outdoor plants. All you need to do is install a water collection system in your garden or on your balcony.

6. Wash your clothes at low temperature

Washing your clothes at a low temperature will save you money but also limit your impact on the environment. In fact, 80% of the electricity used to wash your clothes in the washing machine is used to heat them up!

7. Stop using plastic bottles

Plastic bottled water is a disaster for the planet. They pollute our oceans and yet are of little use these days! You can easily drink the water from your tap in France, as it is very controlled. If it is not drinkable, this is indicated. You can further purify your tap water with bamboo charcoal sticks to be placed in a water carafe. They are easily found in eco-responsible shops and can be reused many times. You can also swap plastic bottles for stainless steel or glass bottles when you travel.

8. Take a shower instead of a bath

To reduce water wastage, you should prefer showers to baths. In addition, you will greatly reduce your water bill. In fact, a bath requires about 150 to 200 litres of water, as opposed to a 5-minute shower which uses 30 to 80 litres of water.

9. Put a “STOP PUB” label on your mailbox

Stick on a “STOP PUB” label so that you no longer receive leaflets and other advertising brochures, which usually end up in the bin without having been leafed through. In this way, you will be helping to reduce the waste caused by this advertising.

10. Regularly delete your e-mail

To finish this list, we often ignore the impact of digital waste on the planet. And this is the case with e-mails. Indeed, the servers that store e-mails consume a huge amount of energy. It is therefore important to sort and delete your e-mails regularly. And then empty the recycle bin, because otherwise they continue to be stored on the servers.
